Introducing… A Little Pick Me Up Cowl

My first knitting pattern is here! I am so excited to share this pattern with the world. This is a super quick knit that is perfect for some mindless knitting. The cowl is mostly stockinette stitch, and every five rows you knit either an eyelet round or a purled round. The purl round is unique because you hold two strands of yarn together, resulting in a cool marled look.

To knit this pattern, you’ll need:

  • US 6/4.0mm 16” circular needles or DPNs for main stitch pattern

  • US 4/3.5mm 16” circular needles or DPNs for garter stitch edging

  • 161 yds (35 g) Knit Picks Palette fingering weight yarn (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 231 yds per 50 g) in Huckleberry Heather (for main color)

  • 92 yds (20 g) Knit Picks Palette fingering weight yarn (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 231 yds per 50 g) in Shire Heather (for garter edge + purl ridge)

  • 1 stitch marker to mark BOR

Finished measurements: 32” circumference x 7” tall (80 x 17.5 cm)

Tester roundup

It was important to me that the sample for this yarn be knit in a budget-friendly yarn. I hope to be able to do this for all my future patterns so that no matter your yarn budget you can be assured you’ll wind up with a beautiful finished knit.

One of the beauties of test knitting is getting to see patterns knit in a variety of different yarn brands. See below for photos from my test knitters.

Marie knit hers using Malabrigo Rastita as the main color and Madelinetosh Light Merino as the contrast color

Rebecca knit hers using On A Dime Yarn Co in Say It Out Loud as the main color and Yarnaceous Fibers Salta Fingering Weight in Pteranodawn as the contrast color.
